FeedBurner: Broken or Biased?

Mar 25, 2008 – 08:31 by Ryan

After our post yesterday on Google and The Sushi Chefs we were shocked to discover that we didn’t have any RSS subscribers. According to our analytics data, the article was incredibly popular.

According to FeedBurner, everyone has unsubscribed (including everyone at Deft Labs)! We’re sure this is simply a glitch but it’s not the first time we’ve seen major errors with the service. We’re grateful that FeedBurner is there to provide feed syndication (and you can’t beat the price - free), but we’re a bit concerned about their quality of the service right now.

For those who don’t know, FeedBurner was acquired by Google in May of 2007 for $100 million.

Update: Two hours later, it appears as if they’ve fixed the problem :-)

  2. To be honest, hadn’t heard of this blog, except when you added yourself as a list of followers.

Maybe feedburner isn’t broker, you just got a bunch of one time readers.

  3. Technorati is tracking over 100 million blogs so it’s very likely that you haven’t heard of a lot of sites :-) I’m constantly amazed by the gems posted on lessor known blogs.

I didn’t unsubscribe (and checked the feed that morning) so at the absolute bare bones minimum there should have been one subscriber.

As mentioned in the post, the problem was solved by FeedBurner two hours later.
